Lim Eng Beng is considered by many as the most prominent King Archer of all time who propelled the Green Archers to a pair of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) titles in 1971 and again in 1974, where he led his team to the championship against the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Romping away with league MVP honors that season, he registered a couple of NCAA collegiate records. He still owns the all-time NCAA single-game scoring mark of 55 points and the highest scoring average for a single season with a 30.9-point clip in 14 appearances. He graduated from De La Salle College in 1979 with a BSBA degree. Beng had a stellar 11-year career in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) where he played from 1975 to 1986 for teams such as Concepcion Industries, U-Tex, San Miguel, Crispa, and Manila Beer. He was a key player in the U-Tex's two championship teams and was named to the Mythical Five in 1978. Beng was also a member of the 5,000-point club and had a career average of 14.1 points in 416 games. He then brought his game to the Philippine Amateur Basketball League (PABL) in 1988 as the player-coach of Agfa until 1990. From 1997 to 2001, he represented the Philippine Chinese Filipino Basketball League (PCFBL) as playing coach in the World Chinese Basketball Tournament and in the ASEAN Chinese Basketball League. Beng was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame of the DLSAA in 1998 and in 2000, he was recognized as one of the 25 Greatest Players in PBA history.
