JOSE S. SANDEJAS (BSC Chem. Eng. '56) is the son of a La Sallite, Jose (HS '22) and nephew of Eliodoro (HS '26). Lito Sandejas specialized in engineering management, earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Rennsselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York in 1967. He is now the president and director of the First Manila Management Corporation, the holding company of 30 various firms including Filmarine Shipping, Mantrade Development, Pantranco South Express or Alatco, PSEI Transport, Philippine World Travel, Pilipino Hino, Power & Construction Machinery, Central Auto Bus, Mantrade Pantranco Finance Corporation, and Service Systems International. He is also the president and chairman of Erectors, Inc., a general construction company which does business in the Middle East. Lito took his high school course in Los Banos, Laguna, and then moved to Taft Avenue, where he graduated with his BSC in Chemical Engineering. In the two years between getting a Master's and a Ph.D. degree, he worked as an associate systems engineer with International Business Corporation in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. After returning to Manila, he worked for three years at Malacanang Palace with the Presidential Economic Staff and the Board of Investments. From 1970 to 1979 he worked as the executive vice-president of Ayala Investment and Development Corporation, and was concurrently a vice-pesident of Ayala Corporation, director of several firms connected with Ayala, and treasurer of Insular Life Assurance, FGU Insurance and Universal Reinsurance. An avid sportsman, Sandejas plays golf at the Alabang Golf & Country Club of which he is a proprietary member.
