As a renowned authority in the field of economics, Tullao has written definitive books on the subject matter over the decades. While he is a University Fellow and professor of economics at DLSU, his roots with the school go back to the early 1970s as a teacher and department chair. Tullao also served as the dean of the College of Business and Economics of DLSU from 1996-2001. He took up his Ph.D. in international economics and MA in Law and Diplomacy at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Massachusetts (U.S.A.). Furthermore, Tullao completed his MA degree in Development Education at Stanford University in California. In 1993, the Metrobank Foundation recognized him as one of the most outstanding teachers in the Philippines. Tullao excels as a researcher and writer, having come out with several written works including publications, textbooks and articles published nationwide and online. Throughout his career, Tullao has played several important roles such as consultant for the Board of Investments (1988-1990), DLSU director of Institutional Planning and former Assistant to the Commissioner of Higher Education. His deep and extensive knowledge on economics has allowed him to discuss matters such as economic development, economics of education and international economic relations. Tullao won the National Book Award which was given to him by the Manila Critic circle. At present, he writes a weekly column at Manila Bulletin to further share his expertise with readers across the country. Through Tullao's writings and teachings, he has helped Filipinos appreciate and understand the significance of economics on a local and international scale.
