The De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) realizes that
recognition is one vehicle to properly reward achievement of quality and
excellence. It publicly applauds and reinforces the Association's
agreement with De La Salle University - Manila (DLSU - M)'s educational
goal of producing "Christian Achievers for God and Country."
As an organization of alumni of De La Salle Philippines, Inc. (DLSPI)
and affiliate institutions, the DLSAA confers awards that are different
and distinct from those given by DLSU - M, DLSPI, or any other school of
the De La Salle Brothers - Philippine District (DLSB - PD).
This DLSAA Honors and Awards System intends to establish the policy,
categories, awardee qualifications and criteria, procedures, and
implementing guidelines for honors and awards. The DLSAA
claims ownership of its awards and, accordingly, no award contained in
this System may be given by any individual or organization without its
expressed approval. |
|
It is the policy of the DLSAA to recognize and honor alumni
who have either - - Achieved distinction and
unusual positive recognition in their chosen fields, professions, or
public service, and who have demonstrated outstanding achievement
thereby serving as role models on a community, provincial, national, or
international level;
- Brought honor and
glory to their Alma Mater, community, or country;
- Rendered dedicated and exemplary volunteer service or support
to either the DLSAA or their Alma Mater or both;
- Performed beyond normal expectations in DLSAA's chapters;
- Attained notable ratings in government
licensure examinations; and/or
- For an
individual who is not an alumnus as defined in this Honors and Awards
System, possessed loyalty and rendered volunteer and unsolicited support
to the DLSAA or any DLSB - PD school's projects or concerns
|
| The
DLSAA shall create or form committees to plan and manage the nomination,
short listing, and selection of awardees in different categories. All awardees covered in this System,
however, shall be approved or confirmed by the DLSAA's Board of
Directors.
Any awards
committee may neither announce or discuss nominees or awardees nor
disclose any nomination or conferment with the nominator, nominee, or
any other party. Only the President or the Vice-President for Honors
and Awards may make announcements and only upon approval or confirmation
of the awardees by the DLSAA Board. |

The DLSAA
Honors and Awards System has six main categories. These are the:
- DLSAA Lasallian Exemplary
Honors, which is subdivided into the DLSAA Distinguished Lasallian Award and the DLSAA Lasallian Achievement Award;
- DLSAA
Sports Honors, that is categorized into the DLSAA Sports Hall of Fame Award and
the DLSAA Lasallian Sports Achievement
Award;
- DLSAA Br. Benedict Award;
- DLSAA
Chapter Honors, which has three levels, the DLSAA Outstanding Chapter Award, the DLSAA Outstanding Chapter President Award,
and the DLSAA Chapter Special Citation
Award;
- DLSAA Lasallian Merit Award; and
- DLSAA
Honorary Membership.
|
|
| The DLSAA
confers awards according to set criteria applicable to each category.
However, except for the DLSAA Honorary Membership, all awardees or
inductees must be - |
| - Graduates in
any level of any DLSB - PD school;
- Those
who have studied, but not necessarily graduated, for the equivalent of
at least two (2) years in any DLSB - PD school;
- Those who have studied, but not necessarily graduated,
for the equivalent of at least two (2) years in schools acquired by the
DLSB - PD and integrated thereto, including those who studied/graduated
prior to such acquisition and integration;
- Honorary degree conferees of any DLSB - PD school;
- Members of the faculty who have
served for the equivalent of two (2) years in any DLSB - PD school; or
- Non-Lasallians who because of
meritorious services, concern, involvement in the DLSAA or in any DLSB -
PD school activities and/or projects, and are conferred membership by
the DLSAA Board of Directors.
The
personal life of an awardee is not a primary focus of consideration.
The DLSAA principally honors a person's achievements until and unless
his personal life is blatantly and publicly offensive. Nonetheless, an
awardee must have neither been convicted of any major crime nor,
additionally, tainted by any gross public misconduct, immorality, or
scandalous behavior. At the minimum, the awardee must
espouse Lasallian values represented by Religio, Mores et Cultura and
live a life consistent with accepted Filipino current community
standards of behavior. |
|
| The nominations
for honors and awards covered by the DLSAA Honors and Awards System are
solicited from the general membership or the DLSAA Excom. In all
cases, however, nominators must have read the qualifications and
criteria for the award and believe that their nominees, from casual
investigation, are qualified. The following is a summary of the accepted
nominators, committees, and approving body for the awards: |
