Proudly Green: A Night of Tribute
As part of its Centennial Celebration, the De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) through the Grade School and High School Manila Chapter held Proudly Green: A Night of Tribute last October 1, 2016 at the Manila Polo Club. This event recognized the Association’s past presidents, Distinguished Lasallian Awardees, Lasallian Achievement Awardees, and Sports Hall of Fame Awardees. Over 300 past awardees, representatives, and guests joined the celebration.
The night kicked-off with a performance from La Salle Greenhills’Kundirana band while dinner was being served to the audience. Moreover, her excellency Vice President Leni Robredo made an appearance in the event as she received the Distinguished Lasallian Award plaque for her late husband, former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary, Jesse M. Robredo. VP Robredo thanked DLSAA for the recognition and recalled how the University has also acknowledged her late husband through renaming the La Salle Institute of Governance to Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance back in 2012.
Afterwards, DLSAA Grade School and High School Manila Chapter President Manuel Blanco gave his remarks and asked the audience to watch an audio-visual presentation of the history of DLSAA and its plans for the future. This was followed by a short message from DLSAA President Dr. Derrick Yu and De La Salle University President Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC.
To pay tribute and honor DLSAA’s past presidents, Distinguished Lasallian Awardees, Lasallian Achievement Awardees, and Sports Hall of Fame Awardees, each past president/awardee/representative of an awardee was called up on stage to receive a plaque of recognition.DLSZ President and DLSAA Brother Adviser Br. Bernard Oca FSC, DLSAA Grade School and High School Manila Chapter President Mr. Manuel Blanco, and current DLSAA President Dr. Derrick Yu led the recognition proper.
The celebration continued with music by the Replay band while alumni and their guests danced to their heart’s content. The audience also took this opportunity to catch up with their batchmates and friends over a few drinks.
Proudly Green: A Night of Tribute was a celebration of excellence, paying homage to past DLSAA leaders and awardees who have made Lasallians proud through their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
