Amb. Philippe J. Lhuillier holds a BS Management degree from the De La Salle College. He is the second child of Honorary Consul Henri Lhuillier and Angelita Jones. Shortly after college, he married Edna Diago and they have seven children, Jean Henri, Christine, Jacqueline, Angelique, Andre, Camille and Madeline. Philippe is the Philippine Ambassador to the countries of Italy, Albania and San Marino where close to a million Filipinos reside and are employed. As Ambassador to Italy, his passion in helping our kababayans" especially the OFWs is unequalled. He is the Dean of the Ambassadors in Italy for the United Nation's Economic Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). He was unanimously selected as one of the 2008 Twenty Outstanding Filipinos Abroad (T0FA) for his unwavering and unselfish service to the Filipino OFWs. Prior to his appointment as our country's envoy to Italy, he was a highly successful businessman running several family-owned enterprises in diverse fields such as the Cebuana Lhuillier Pawnshops, Bank &t Money Exchange; the P.J. Lhuillier Development Corporation; Li'l Henri Toys Factory, Inc.; La Planta Hotel and Restaurant, Inc.; and Strike Zone Bowling Lanes, among others. He was president of the Chamber of Pawnbrokers of the Philippines from 1987 – 1998. Philippe learned from his Christian Education at La Salle that education is a must. One of his priorities in life is to educate and help the poor. He has given hundreds of scholarships nationwide to the poor people during these past years. He spearheaded a project in Italy to extend medical assistance to around 1,500 tuberculosis-afflicted Filipino children living in Payatas, Quezon City. In 2008, P. J. Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (PJLFI) was established by his son, Jean Henri, to serve as the corporate vehicle of the Philippe J. Lhuillier Group of Companies for sharing their blessings with the community and country. Indeed, social responsibility is not only a corporate goal in the P.J. Lhuillier Group of Companies, but has already become a culture — a way of life.
