Br. Virgil made his mark in athletic history as Sports Moderator for the intramurals and the NCAA teams. In the mid-fifties, La Salle was always on top of the pile in every NCAA sport. He also served as Vice-President of the NCAA. He was known as an avid supporter who was always there for any athlete who needed him, who never lost his cool on the playing field and was a highly respected counselor and friend. He moved to La Salle Lipa in 1962. After one year and seven months of guiding the fledgling institution, Br. Virgil died of a heart attack on the 22nd of September 1963. The DLSAA conferred on Br. Virgil the Sports Hall of Fame Award posthumously in 1998.
