Putting Up With Pride: The 19th Br. Benedict Golf Cup

At the lush Forest Hills Golf & Country Club, the De La Salle Alumni Association kicked off the thrilling 19th Br. Benedict Golf Cup. It was a day of fun, friendly rivalry, and the strong spirit of togetherness that De La Salle alumni are known for. More than a golf tournament, it was a showcase of unity, with every swing and putt echoing the proud Lasallian tradition of fellowship and fair play.

The Br. Benedict Golf Cup, known in its spirited beginnings as “Beat Brother Ben,” stands as a vibrant homage not just to golfing prowess but to the enduring spirit of a Lasallian legend, Br. Josiah Benedict Lidinsky. To others, he may appear as the solemn sentinel of the LS building's corridors, while to golf enthusiasts, he's the formidable benchmark in a rousing round of golf. Yet, those who look beyond the surface see a man whose heart beats in sync with the very ethos of the Brotherhood and De La Salle University, a man whose commitment to cultivating and nurturing the bonds of its alumni.

Mirroring Br. Ben’s steadfast presence, the De La Salle Alumni Association, under the dedicated leadership of Prof. Randy Nonato, dedicates itself to enriching lives, just as a benevolent force in the community. In the shadow of Br. Ben's legacy, the Association reminds us that, much like the reliable arc of a well-aimed golf ball, their support is a constant you can always rely on.

In line with Br. Ben and the DLSAA’s commitment to cultivating deep alumni connections, the DLSAA, with the support of our generous sponsors, prepared truly one-of-a-kind “hole-in-one” prizes such as P100,000 in cash from Mega Fibre/Cran UTI/Travellers’ Insurance, one (1) Golf Cart from The Turf Company, P100,000 worth of merchandise from K&G Golf Apparel And Accessories, P100,00 worth of merchandise from 3 Strokes, Parikit Manila Franchise worth P249,000, and more! Not only that, the association also went the extra mile by preparing memorable and sustainable trophies. The recycled trophies awarded to the golf cup winners were made of exquisite pieces of wood from the regular trimmings of trees at the Palmer Course, Forest Hills Golf & Country Club.

This year's golf cup saw golfers hitting the greens at dawn, ready to tackle the twists and turns of the challenging course. But it wasn't just about nailing that perfect hole-in-one—it was about the laughter, the high-fives, and the sheer joy of playing together. Every shot was a display of the Lasallian drive to do great things, making the Br. Benedict Golf Cup a highlight for alumni far and wide. It's about more than the game; it's about the connections made and the shared commitment to growing and winning together in true Lasallian spirit. The excitement stretched far beyond the final putt. Alumni golfers, supporters, and guests basked in the warmth of camaraderie, savoring Chef Laudico's exquisite signature dishes and swaying to the mesmerizing tunes of “The Doorbells.” Special thanks to Max Ventura of Radyo CSR, a proud Lasallian who masterfully orchestrated the vibrant festivities of the Ceremonial Tee-off and the whole fellowship and awarding, wrapping up the day with laughter, music, and celebration.

As the sun set on the 19th Br. Benedict Golf Cup, the laughter and applause may have faded, but the memories created will resonate forever. Until we gather again, may the camaraderie and the commitment to excellence continue to be the cornerstones of every Lasallian's life.
